They obtain data related to the treatments provided. PTAs collaborate with physical therapists to modify care as necessary. They assist in the treatment of individuals of all ages, from newborns to those at the end of life. PTAs help patients stretch and exercise specific muscle groups. They read instructions from the physical therapist. PTAs work directly with the physical therapist to assist patients. They speak with families to find the best at-home techniques. PTAs maintain cleanliness and organization in the physical therapy area. They assist in moving patients from wheelchairs or walkers to the therapy area. PTAs complete administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and filing paperwork. They teach patients techniques, including balance training.
