Job Description Summer Laboratory Technician - Overland Park, KSThis is a temporary non-exempt level position.Position Summary:This is a three month position during the summer. Job Responsibilities:Preparation of samples in order to perform daily sample bakesCollecting and distribution of samplesPhysical testing of wheat flour samplesDaily calibration of standard lab instrumentsRecording and interpreting test resultsVerifying sufficient inventory of testing suppliesMaintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory environmentMaintains samples of tested product in order to confirm test results when necessaryPerforms light maintenance and calibration on ADM laboratory equipmentMaintains on-going records of the results of all testing procedures and inputs such data into computer on a daily basisMaintains adequate supplies used for testing procedures and notifies the supervisor of the need to re-order such suppliesContinually compares test results with standards as required to insure that all flour is within specification Job Requirements:Understands most production processes required in the production of flour and how it would relate to analysis being performedMaintains a neat and clean working area at all times, washing equipment as required and placing equipment in the proper storage areasMaintains an effective working relationship with fellow employeesPerforms duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirementsMaintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelinesHandles various chemicals in assorted containers in the manner outlined in the manufacture's chemical Material Safety Data SheetInforms supervisor immediately of any hazards, unsafe equipment and/or actsRecommends solutions to correct deficiencies or improve work and operational practicesParticipates actively in trainingReports to work in a condition to be able to perform all dutiesPractices proper personal hygieneFamiliarizes themselves with the hazards in their work area and how to protect themselvesUnderstands that accidents are preventable and that safety is everyone's responsibilityCommitment to ADM's goal of achieving a zero injury culture; understand and follow company safety proceduresExhibit regular and prompt attendancePhysical requirements include: Prolonged periods of standing; ability to lift up to 30 lbs. unassistedExcited about this role but don't meet every requirement listed?
